Research and Development: I went to St. Olaf College, where I majored in mathematical economics. I earned my M.S. and PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Merger: My biggest college success was meeting my wife Deb. We met through a mutual friend and started dating after a retreat for Christian leaders at St. Olaf.

Growth: My interest in poverty grew as I struggled to integrate my faith with my interest in economics. My faith continues to motivate my academic studies.

On my own time: I enjoy golfing, working on home-improvement projects, and playing games with my family and friends.
