Cornerstone Community Church - Biographies

Steve Wu - Music Coordinator

I was composed: on the ides of March (March 15), 1973.

My band: My wonderful wife, Grace, and my incredibly active 2-year-old son, Caleb. Grace and I often look at each other and wonder how he conjures up so much energy! Grace is the perfect complement for me and truly encourages me in my walk with Christ. Caleb is such a happy boy and an incredible source of joy in our family, even when he’s wreaking havoc in our house (like he so often does!).

Wedding bands: My wife and I have a funny story about our wedding. The day before our wedding, our car was broken into and a lot of important stuff was stolen, including our gifts for those helping in our wedding, our wedding rings, and our marriage certificate. We had to run to Target (tar-jay) that night to find wedding bands. After moving to Utica, we had to have another “legal” ceremony with the proper certification. So in a way, we were married twice.

Band concert: Senior year in college. My last jazz band concert of my college career. I invited 20 of my friends to come. 300 people in the audience. Great concert. However…not until after the concert did I realize that I had a large rip in the back of my pants…yes, there, on the bottom. Fortunately, I was seated at the piano for most of the concert. Unfortunately, I had to conduct one of the pieces, with my back to the entire audience. Me, afterwards to one of my friends in attendance: “Um, did you notice anything…um….” My friend’s response: “Uh, yeah….”

My goal in leading the music ministry: To allow people to truly worship God and experience the awesomeness of simply being in His presence. I hope that many would be led to experience God’s love through the gift of music.

Favorite movie: The Karate Kid
